Ali Barbour's Cave RestaurantSouth Coast, Diani
This was a seriously disappointing experience; we had such high expectations and were enormously excited to be eating in a cave restaurant. The kids were almost beside themselves with excitement. Indeed it was a lovely setting. However I have never been to a restaurant with such stingy portions; frankly they ought to be ashamed of themselves. We were a party of 10 people. 6 of whom were children, and we all left hungry. The pasta dish served as a main course, to my daughter was literally three forkfuls, I received 8 queen (small) prawns for a main dish which included 6 stringy 1 inch bits of French beans, 3 slices of carrots, 2 small chunks of turnip, no salad or accompaniment for the not inexpensive price of 2400ksh, approximately, $30 dollars give or take! We ordered the steaks as main course for two children which arrived on one plate that we were presumably supposed to place between the two of them seated at opposite ends of the table: 3 mouthfuls each and these pathetic excuses for steals were gone. The others has children had asked for extra chips in lieu of veg; they remembered to twke the veg out but conveniently forgot about the extra fries! We had to go home and make toast for the kids. All in all it\'s fitting that the restaurant is called Ali Barbour and the forty thieves because thieves they certainly are,!
