Just like hidden treasures, this place lives up to its name "gold". Its cool ambience, friendly staff and superb service makes it the perfect restaurant to have a meal and relax off the busy Mombasa road highway. It is not packed, thus the staff really give you full attention and the service is awesome. I visited this restaurant during the 3rd edition of the Nairobi Restaurant Week 2016 (this was a participating restaurant) and I had the light cream of pea soup as a starter was simply amazing! I've found a gem and I'll be stopping by often.
With the hectic Mombasa rd traffic, lunch at the blackgold cafe seemed like a brilliant idea. The place was very chilled out and calm, they started us off with some cold drinks perfect for the hot weather. My friend had the fish fillet and I had grilled lamb with sauteed vegetables. The presentation was nice and the taste was even better. This will definitely be my go to place while on Mombasa rd.
This is place is a true hidden gem. Anybody looking for a place to enjoy a few drinks and good dinner after a hard days work should try it. Ambience and decor is amazing. Since its never too packed, the staff are attentive and helpful. Food is well priced and served within 20 min as promised. The seafood pizza is one of the best I have ever had (and I have had a lot of pizza in my time). Portions are generous and prices fair. No issues with parking. The list is endless! Loved it.
Perfect place to stop over when stuck in traffic on Mombasa Road.
I was pleasantly surprised by this little cafe and more so at the fact that not that many people know about it, wham they should. Not one to look to hotels as a place to dine...this is one of those few exceptions. The food is good...just don't order the cheesecake. The entrees are what I keep going for. It's cafe food, done well at reasonable prices. The service is pretty good...use them to recommend bottle of wine, from their selection. You'll find yourself going back, again and again.
