Absolutely loved this place. Every dish I tried was awesome. Service was quick and efficient and the prices have to be commended since they were very reasonable compared with most nairobi restaurants. We had a nice chat with the chef who is friendly and interested in the opinion of patrons. Overall a fabulous experience and I would highly recommend this place.
Went to the Delta Towers location for a birthday dinner. They had adviced on confirmation of the reservation that since it was NRW, as a large group we could only either all do the NRW menu or the regular menu, but they couldn't do both. Their NRW dinner menu was very limited considering its their first year participating. We opted to do the regular menu. Everything went well, ordered food which all came out in time and for the most part the staff looked capable of handling a party of 16. More on that later. There were quite mixed reviews from the party. Those who tried the rabbit, pork belly and ribs loved their dishes and would order them again. However those of us who sampled the chapatti wraps, dahl and curry goat were disappointed. There was little to no flavor they just tasted bland, something was missing. The chapatis were too thick therefore overwhelming the taste of the inner ingredients. They recommended the masala chips, plantains and pilau for sides but the masala chips were the driest most underwhelming masala chips I have every had. The sweet potato pie is an interesting combination complete brain teaser but the cheesecake was a tad too tart. Oh and I salted my lamb samosas as they were incredibly under seasoned. The saving grace was the New Dawa cocktail which was mixed just right and reminded me of the original simba salon dawa. Back to the service. One waiter unfortunately didn't reconcile the bills well and people left without paying for certain items thereby leaving us to cover him so his salary wouldn't get docked. That was the downer for the night having to reconciliate bills and losing our buzz from the booze all because a waiter could not ask for help is quite irritating. Needless to say the food was nothing to write home about and I shall not be going back for food. The original chef who created the menu has left so the food is no longer the same. Great ambience though.
I went to Nyama Mama and had an amazing date with one of my friends. I tried out their mashed cassava balls and pilipili sauce which was absolutely amazing. My friend had their chapati wraps with chicken tikka. We both had a blast and it was an a amazing time. Not to mention the uber retro plates and cups. We went to the Yaya Centre branch , it was a bit small but all in all it was a fun time. Must Visit.
